The Foundry

The Foundry Athens GA

Giving a nod to its origin as an iron foundry, The Foundry is rooted in the concept of craftsmanship and attention to detail with fresh hints of Southern flare and fare bringing the space to life.

Dating back to the 1850’s, The Foundry has been repurposed offering a multi-tiered concert hall with four additional historic venues fit to host special events, meetings, and weddings. In the Foundry Bar & Mill, exposed brick walls and high-beam ceilings tell stories of past artisans who once inhabited the space, while contemporary finishings and enhanced acoustics lend a refurbished stage to new musicians.

Over the years, The Foundry has hosted Nappy Roots, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Blind Boys of Alabama to perform their craft. In addition to nationally renowned bands, The Foundry is now living room to local and emerging artists alike and frequented by Strawberry Flats, Carl Lindberg Jazz and Crosby Still Nash & Young tribute band, Déjà vu.

Of course, this music is always enjoyed best over some delicious handcrafted food.  Inspired by the process of milling corn, Executive Chef Kyle Kilgo’s menu of reimagined Southern comfort food offers guests a taste of The Foundry’s heritage. Local ingredients are sourced to create authentic dishes in house by way of scratch cooking, meaning virtually every element of each ingredient is utilized during preparation.

An emphasis on fresh, handmade meals is derived from the same philosophy behind corn milling – requiring only the freshest corn to perfect traditional Southern dishes including grits and corn bread.  Feel-good favorites like these, small shared plates and a bar stocked with local beers, wines and spirits serve up a warm communal experience to all.
